MEET THE TEACHER
Name: Mrs. Shari Davis
Family (growing up and now): I have one brother and three sisters.
I have 5 children: Sophia and Savannah (16) Sierra (15) Sydnie (12) and Saylor (9) and one husband, Tim (42)
Where from: Born in Sumner, Iowa, raised near Plainfield, Iowa, settled in Tripoli, Iowa.
Likes/interests/hobbies: I love to spend time with my children. We hike, ride bikes, farm, play ball, talk, sing, dance, and just plain hang out. I love to travel and explore unknown places like the biggest fry pan in Iowa and the biggest ball of twine in Minnesota. I also take my kids to all the free Christian concerts I can. We watch a lot of movies, grown a lot of flowers and vegetables, sled down the hills of Elgin in the winter time, participate in cross country runs, enjoy the fair each year and take long walks.
What do you like about CLS? I love Community Lutheran School because I can share my faith, teach the gospel, instill Christian values, pray with the students, and encourage them to be the fantastic wonderful people God intended them to be! All that along with one on one time, a challenging curriculum and out of this world class projects. I feel like we have a chance to teach to the whole child! To get to know them, tell them we care about them, and teach them to care about others!
ABOUT OUR NEW PRE-K/KINDERGARTEN PROGRAM
After much discussion and research, the decision was made to include a pre-kindergarten/kindergarten classroom here at CLS. This addition to our school made a few other positive changes possible. First, it allows for a choice in programming options for 4-year-old students.
We will still offer both the traditional 3-year-old program and the traditional 4-year-old program. In addition to the traditional programs, parents can choose to instead enroll their child in the pre-kindergarten/kindergarten classroom, which is five mornings a week.
Our classroom alignment for 2009-10 is as follows:
- 3-year-old preschool Tuesday and Thursday mornings - Readlyn site
- 4-year-old preschool Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings - Readlyn site
- PreK-K - preK mornings five days a week and Kindergarten all day, every day - Readlyn site
- Grades 1-2 - Readlyn site
- Grades 3-4 - Klinger site
- Grades 5-6 - Klinger site
- Grades 7-8 - Klinger site
At CLS, we individualize student instruction to meet each child's unique needs. Christian values and lessons are taught every day to students. Students are given the opportunity to partake in many learning activities that add to their educational experience. These include school musicals, sports, band, and field trips. Teachers also incorporate hands-on learning experiences for students.
