Check out our latest project! We dissected owl pellets to learn about the eating habits of birds. The kids had fun exploring and piecing the bones together!
MEET THE TEACHER
Name: Emily Hanson
Family (growing up and now): My parents live in Cedar Falls. My father is a high school Spanish teacher and my mother is a nurse midwife. I have a younger brother who is an accountant in Minneapolis. We like to get together to go on walks, have coffee at local coffee shops, and visit over a meal or cards. Our extended family lives in various states around the United States, and both of my grandparents live in South Dakota. My parents grew up on farms in Eastern South Dakota.
Where from: My family has lived in the Waterloo/Cedar Falls area for the majority of my life. We lived in South Dakota when my brother and I were little.
Likes/interests/hobbies: I enjoy spending time with family and friends! A good conversation over a cup of coffee is one of my absolute favorite activities. I also love to read, especially historical fiction novels.
What do you like about CLS? I am so grateful for the privilege I have to tell the children about Jesus. It is a wonderful thing to be able to pray with them and for them, and to have the opportunity to read the Bible at school.
I also love teaching the children and knowing they are receiving so many blessings and opportunities. I volunteered at an elementary school in India for a couple of months, and I learned so much from the experience. It made me realize that we have been given so much and we have a great honor and privilege to use what we have been given to help others.
I love the community here at CLS. It is a joy to work with all of our families to provide the best education for the students possible. I enjoy the opportunities we have to spend time together outside of the school hours at events such as the annual campout, the Arts Festival, musicals, and Lutheran Schools week activities. I could not ask for a more supportive and collaborative staff with whom to work.
